Real 'natural' botanical garden. Truly real look at Hawaiian flora and fauna. Three waterfalls, largest is 442' drop. Awsome paved and railed path that will be a nice hour long walk to enjoy but beware of the many steps up and down. Should be moderately healthy walker. Don't miss for all the other sites on east Hawaii.

Very nice walk about about 30 to 60 minutes to do the loop. These are not native hawaiin plants but a replanting of a small valley that was erased with the sugar cane era. More of a jungle type planting. Still its worth the trip. Park outside to save some money. Everybody does it.

Wow, this was well worth the drive to see. It's 25 minutes north of Hilo. Felt like I stepped into a tropical jungle. Very fun loop hike. There are park assistants at the top. There is a charge to get into the park. You can head either direction as it loops around. It will take about 30 minutes depending on how long you stop and see the beautiful scenery. Loved the waterfall as that was the highlight, but the lush green plants were amazing to see. If you have time, make sure to check this out! 0:13

Really cool spot, one of them best water falls we have seen on any of the Hawaii big islands. Relatively easy to access, plenty of parking. There was a small fee to enter but well worth it. It’s a quick 30 minute loop that takes you through a scenic walk way right to the falls. 0:06 0:03

We got to walk through the tropical vegetation with scenic view points overlooking the Kahuna Falls and the ‘Akaka Falls, which plummets 442 feet into a stream-eroded gorge. The 0.4-mile loop footpath requires some effort not suited for those on a wheel chair. Rest rooms and parking facility available. Entry fee of 5 USD per person and a parking fee of 10 USD for our car. A must visit place of scenic beauty . Playground No Restrooms Available Dog-friendliness I would consider the place as manageable when with Pets Picnic area Not sure 0:10

GORGEOUS nature-walk! Really beautiful to see the waterfalls, flowers & greenery. The tropical plants are Huge! (A shame the bamboo is taking over a lot of it...) A bit strenuous up & down the slopes & stairs. Total loop distance probably close to a mile. (Parking WAY too expensive! Park outside the gate & walk 50 yards to Park Entrance, where you pay to enter.) Enjoy this paradise... worth the visit! Restrooms Clean Public restrooms available, near parking lot.

WOW what a stunning place. The waterfall is gorgeous and the flora throughout the whole place is mesmerizing. If you're a plant lover you will find yourself spending much of your time just looking at all the amazing plants! Easy and well maintained trail. Well worth the entry fee. Pro tip: park on the side of the road just outside the parking lot instead of parking in the lot to avoid paying the $10 parking fee

We decided to come here after being disappointed with Rainbow Falls. My advice to anyone visiting the east side of the island would be to skip both the town of Hilo and Rainbow Falls, as they were not very exciting. Akaka Falls Park was beautiful. Not only were the falls super cool to look it’s really neat to walk through the forest and see all the plants and wildlife. It’s a roughly 30 minutes loop depending on how fast you walk and how often you stop for photos. My last tip would be to park outside the main lot and just walk in so that you don’t have to pay the extra $10 for parking. The 3 minute walk is worth it.

This is a great little hike. The trail is all concrete with a hand rail the whole way. Be aware that there are lots of stairs before you set off. The plants and vegetation you will see are amazing in this wild and natural setting. Oh yes, the waterfall is worth the walking.

It was raining the whole time we were here, but it somehow made it more beautiful. About a 30 minute hike from the parking lot to see the falls. The rainforest is beautiful and it was cool to see all the different plants.
