DOG PPL

DOG PPL is the best thing to happen to Santa Monica! It truly fulfills a big need - a safe, clean, monitored, fun, well lit, well run place for pups. And for people, it’s great too! There is a bar, fun events (real snow at the holiday party!), comfortable places to sit, areas to socialize and there’s always good music playing. The park itself is really pretty and enjoyable just to hang out in. Lots of palm trees, lights - overall a great atmosphere. The people and dogs that come are all very friendly as well. Liam and Alex (The Founders) have thought of everything and have put so much effort into creating this space. From the high quality clean turf to the furniture, they did not skimp. They genuinely love being a part of the community and being in the park and it shows through their care and kindness + the team that they have built. I truly enjoy everyone that works at the park because they care about what they do and are so friendly - it goes without saying, but all of them are great with dogs. The other day Liam was skimming dog hair out of the dog pool (yes, there is a pool and the dogs go crazy for it). That level of pride in keeping things nice, down to the smallest detail - that is what it’s all about. On another note - this park has also been a great way for me to safely spend time with my dog outside. The days are short and Santa Monica is dark and can feel unsafe. The park has provided a solution to that. Very thankful for DOG PPL!!!

So fortunate to have this space. My pup loves it here and it’s helped her become more social and brave around humans and dogs! The park is very thoughtfully designed for dogs and people. It’s clean and spacious for the pups to play and run around. For the humans, the seating arrangements are designed for whatever mood you’re in to accompany your pup - lounging, being social or even finishing up work. Everyone on the staff is friendly and knowledgeable - the rufferees do a great job of helping you keep an eye on your dog.

I love coming here with my dog. The Ruff-errees help us feel safe and comfortable. The wine is good. The food options are okay - there is definite room for a bonus. If they make changes in the future, I hope they add in some self-service dog wash stations. It’s unfortunate this place was great at the start but took a turn for the worst this past year. The handlers’s don’t really approach the dogs to try to stop nipping or biting or humping in time. Too busy chatting with each other. Or watching it but not stopping it fast enough. Grounds smell like urine. They don’t enforce members to clean up after the poop. The small dog area rarely even have a handler. Raised fees for less benefits. Close down the bar on this small dog side. I've been a proud Dog PPL member since they opened their first location. Going to the park is the highlight of my day. It’s a great way for my dog to get exercise since walking is not enough for her. While she gets her workout, I relax and read my book or socialize and meet other dog lovers. Even friends who don’t have dogs will meet me there because it’s a great place to hang out. The true highlight is the positive energy that permeates the space. The staff "rufferees” demonstrate genuine love and care for the dogs and the park owners are so friendly. I wanted to join this place when it first opened but I was skeptical about my letting my dogs near OTHER peoples dogs considering how much I’ve spent on training mine and how little others can put into theirs .. however during their temperament test here I realized most of the owners are watching their dogs, the staff was quick at stopping any dog who might be misbehaving. We joined and my 3 love coming here. I’ve brought guests with me who also enjoy it. The coffee is great, the food has been delicious and my dogs get time to run around. They only play as a pack but they do recognize other poodles! UPDATE: We were members at Dog PPL for nearly 2 years, and while we started out loving it, our experience over time shifted and we are no longer members. At first, it felt like the perfect spot—safe, fun, and filled with a great community for both dogs and humans. But over time, the park evolved into a social club for Influencers + people more than a dog-focused space. The staff turnover was high, and where there used to be multiple rufferees in training (many of them trainers and vet techs), it seemed like fewer and fewer new staff are actually trained in dog behavior and safety. Dog PPL was an awesome chapter, but I am disappointed in how leadership handled membership changes, despite a promise of continued communication. For us—and our rescue—it no longer felt like the right fit. -- 2024: We've been members at Dog PPL for 9 months—and it has become a second home.The park is clean, safe, fun, and has an amazing community — humans and otherwise. Our dog (a rescue/shelter pup with anxiety) absolutely loves it and looks forward to it every day. I bring her 5-6 times a week while I'm working, on the weekends to read, etc. It is an AMAZING place to socialize your dog—and to socialize *with* your dog. Like some, we were skeptical of the price at first (since we took her to the public park 4-6 times a week). Fast-forward 9 months: We wish we had found this community sooner. The PPL (staff, rufferees (!) , front desk, founders, community) are wonderful. They're accommodating, eager to hear suggestions, and prioritize the pups' experience and safety above all else. The BEST dog park in LA! Safe, clean and SO fun for dogs & owners! Getting a membership at dogppl is the best money we've ever spent. My dog never gets tired of coming here and while he plays - I can post up at a table and do work or enjoy a coffee or cocktail from the bar. All the referees are awesome and truly love dogs. This place is the best dog park in LA without a doubt - it's not even close. My dog loves this place more than his bed! However, the reason I am only giving 4 stars is that recently, the place has started to smell. I am not sure if they need to replace the turf or give it a deep clean but it is becoming more and more pungent. Otherwise, the place is amazing, and I highly recommend it to anyone curious! My dog Rufus and I have been (founding) members since the very beginning. Ever since day 1, the owners and staff members have been amazing. They are all fun, engaging, loving to our fur babies, and just exhibit overall good vibes. The first location was so great, but this new one is (in my opinion) so much better! It’s so much bigger and gives us so much room for our beloved doggies to run around! Also, they host very fun events. As a member, you are able to take advantage of their beautiful park and attend very sweet events. I’ve met some really great people here and enjoy coming here with my friends. 10/10 highly recommend!
