Dogtopia of Pearl District

If I could do a zero star review I would. But I will NEVER be returning to this dogtopia or any of them ever. Ive been taking my dog there for months(2-4 times a week) and I was told hes been doing great every time I pick him up. come to find out the day he gets into a scuffle with another dog and hurts the other dogs toe. That hes been having a consistent behavioral issues basically since day one of bringing him there. I wont defend my dogs actions. But what i am pissed about is the fact that I was left completely in the dark about any issues going on with him while at daycare. Preventing me from doing anything about the behavior. That is 100% unacceptable. Its the responsibility of a daycare facility to be upfront and honest about a dogs behavior for the safety of EVERYONE involved dogs and people included and the failure to do so is a blatant disrespect and breach of trust towards the petparents who leave their dogs there. The endless risk that it imposes is unimaginable. Not to mention the fact that when scuffles do happen they remove your dog from the play area and shove them in a room by themselves for hour+ on end. Which is also not communicated if they do that so any energy then need to burn off while at daycare is completely ignored. Overall the experience I had here for a first time daycare user is completely and utterly unacceptable and frankly dangerous. DO NOT bring your pet here. For your dogs safety and your peace of mind.

I have been recommending Dogtopia Pearl District for all of my pet parent friends since my sweet "Stu" started attending last year! Each staff member we've interacted with are all incredibly kind people, and they truly care about each and every dog that comes through their doors. Stu attends daycare regularly, and he absolutely loves it. As soon as we pull up to the front door or day "daycare", he gets so excited and can't wait to run inside. The facility is clean, spacious, and at least one trained staff member is always keeping an attentive eye on the dogs. There are separate play areas for small and large dogs, which ensures that every dog is safe and comfortable. The staff members are so knowledgeable about dog behavior and quick to intervene if they see any potential issues. When you become a member at Dogtopia, you have access to the webcams for all of the dog rooms, so you can keep an eye on your fur baby at all times and I am always so impressed with how the staff is able to monitor the dogs and even detect when a dog needs "a break" from all the playtime. One of the things that sets Dogtopia Pearl District apart is their commitment to providing individual attention to each dog. They take the time to get to know each dog's personality and preferences, which allows them to tailor the daycare experience to each individual dog. Stu loves running around with his furry friends and the staff always makes sure he gets plenty of exercise and attention. Recently, we needed to board Stu for two weeks while we were out of the country. While we missed him so much, we were so happy to have Dogtopia Pearl District watch him, ensure he was eating his foods and taking his medication properly, and loving on him as much as we do. While Stu is a friendly, easy-going dog, he experiences digestive issues from overexerting himself. While he was boarded, the Dogtopia fam collaborated every day to monitor Stu and even pull him out of the playroom a little more often so he could have the time to rest. This extra attention was super appreciated, and the staff never made us feel that we were a bother. Additionally, Dogtopia Pearl District offers spa services (bath, nails, teeth cleaning) and even offers optional "themed days" where you can make a small donation to give your dog a tasty treat like a pumpkin treat, a special lunch like chicken and rice, or even get their photo taken with a special backdrop. For Christmas, one of the lead staff members dressed up as Santa and took photos with the dogs. They take multiple photos and add them to their Facebook account — super convenient and I love having so many professional photos of Stu! Overall, I cannot recommend Dogtopia Pearl District enough. If you're looking for a safe, clean, and fun environment for your dog to play and socialize, this is definitely the place to go. Our doggie, Strudel, was here several days a week as a puppy and loved it. We moved away for 2.5 years and he just went back for the first time. As soon as we pulled up he was so excited he could barely contain himself. He raced in the front door and straight to the staff for cuddles, tail all wagging. His joy at seeing his old friends made my heart so full. They truly love on the pups here. You can tell the staff are well trained and genuinely love dogs. Thank you for loving our pup so well! Zephyr goes to daycare at Dogtopia twice a week and he loves it there. He is so excited when we get there and disappears into the gym without a glance back. The people are friendly but it is way too crowded, around 30 dogs in a room. My dog attended for a few weeks. Here’s the pros and cons. PROS: The cleanest and best smelling dog facility I’ve ever been in. Convenient location. Very friendly staff. CONS: No outdoor play area. My dog was bored being stuck inside all day. It’s a newer location and staff still seems confused about billing procedures, contracts or even how to share photos taken during the day. Check in and out process is too long. I usually waited an average of 7 minutes to drop off or pick up my dog. Shouldn’t be that complicated. Auto billing means I’m still getting billed even after leaving. Every day is a new “fund raiser” so they are constantly hitting you up for an additional $5.

When my work friend recommended Dogtopia, our expectations were low. We just wanted our shy and nervous puppy Pixie to tolerate other dogs and get some exercise while we were at work. But in the 3 months since we started taking her, she's grown so confident and social. Now when we drop her off once a week she spends the entire time either by the trainer or playing with the other dogs. I also appreciate how as soon as we come home, she passes out from her fun day. I am absolutely heartbroken and beyond upset. My dog is the sweetest, most gentle, innocent soul, and ever since going to Dogtopia in pearl district Portland , he is no longer the same . We went to dogotopia in paradise valley Arizona before this and they loved him he was well behaved . We moved to Portland and they abused him to the point that he now panics and bites when anyone even tries to put a collar on him. This is not who my dog is. Before this, he trusted everyone and had nothing but love in his heart. I took him to professional training, desperate for answers, and they told me this kind of behavior doesn’t just come out of nowhere it almost always comes from trauma or abuse. Now that we’ve moved back Arizona, every single trainer, groomer, and facility I’ve spoken to has said the exact same thing. Hearing it over and over makes the pain even worse. We are now at another Dogtopia in Arizona and they are so sweet and agree he was abused in Portland and are working with him. I am completely shattered knowing that someone hurt my dog, especially because he is so pure and loving. He’s amazing with people, gentle with everyone he meets, and would never hurt anyone unless he was pushed to fear. The fact that his trust was broken breaks me. Love Dogtopia pearl district! My pup was treated so well, felt safe and happy there, had a blast playing, and came home tired. Definitely worth every penny. I was able to watch him on camera and the staff was well trained and so nice. They were very kind to him and me, always willing to help and available for scheduling appointments or addressing any concerns. They were nice when registering my dog but while watching her on the webcam, they seemed to ignore her and push her away. I saw them giving other dogs 1:1 attention, but not mine. So many dogs in one place appeared to make her nervous (and she loves playing with other dogs) and they didn’t do much to give her any positive attention. I also packed a blanket and treats to help her stay calm during “down time” and they weren’t even touched, the bag is still brand new. Went once and won’t be coming back unfortunately. I love it here for my little Cashmere and so did she. She gets excited every time I pull up to the doors. She is such a social butterfly since she stated going over a year ago and there is no other place I would take her. The staff is amazing and kind and they baby almost as much as I do. They take care of my (large) dog all the time and he has always goes in stoked and comes out tired. Super friendly pet specialists, and I can tell Atlas loves em.
