The dogs are nice. People keep a decent eye on their dogs. Some people dont clean up after their dogs.

Usually empty or only a couple dogs which can be good for shy pups. However there is very little shade for dogs to take a break under and the entire enclosure is sandy gravel which can get hot in the sun for their paws and for my little pup, he's not a fan of the nosefull of gravel he picks up everytime he gets his frisbee or ball.

Calm fenced dog park. Happy I can relax while my dog plays without the fear of him running into the street. I’m glad I found this place. Shade available. Benches available to sit.

Not the best looked after park...pup enjoys it, but one needs to keep an eye on other doggos

Good location and parking but the dirt/sand make my dog smell awful after and there are a handful of regulars that are very unwelcoming.

Nice dog park filled with friendly owners and mostly well behaved dogs. It can get a little dirty but otherwise a great spot

This is truly a place for dogs to be dogs! I highly recommend it 😁 Be sure to be polite and pick up after your children and everything they drop ! …

Our favorite dog park! Lots of well behaved dogs, friendly owners, and lots of toys for the pups to play with

Nice little place to let the dogs run off leash. It can get a bit dusty in the dry season though.

What a waste of a nice sunny location, whose bright idea was it to cover the ground with dry sandy dust? Whenever the dogs run around you inhale a ton of dust/dry dog pee ugh .

There is always a a good group of dogs playing. The park is well kept, the owners are attentive and plenty of sitting and shade for either you or your pup! Dog-friendliness Most dogs are well socialized. There are always a few difficult owners but this park has fewer than most.

This park has very friendly dog owners and it’s a great place to let the dogs mingle. There’s definitely a lot of regulars and it’s nice to find a place in SF that still has a sense of community. There’s two fixable drawbacks that preclude me from taking my little rescue anymore. 1. There needs to be a SEPARATE AREA OR HOURS FOR SMALL DOGS. My dog had finally warmed up to exploring the park and meeting new dogs when a large dog went running over to play with him. The large dog was friendly and meant no harm but with small dogs that are recovering from trauma under previous ownership it’s terrifying. 2. After being chased by the well meaning large dog, my dog ran for the gate and slid between the gate and the fence! PLEASE CLOSE THE GAPS BETWEEN THE FENCE AND THE GATE. Assuming it’s safe to let your dog off leash only to see him get through the fence was terrifying for me. Needless to say, it was a bad day for both of us.

Pros: never over-crowded, no dog walkers with packs, it’s big, quick-drying sand/dirt. There are pooper scoopers provided. Dogs are usually well supervised. Cons: people here can be a little weird sometimes and nobody seems to understand that when your dog poops, you pick it up. Dog poop spreads disease, people. You don’t even need to use your own bags (see above re: pooper scoopers).

The place is great and there's good dogs and good people. But the sand needs to be packed down I have to give my dog a bath every time I come here.

Nice dog park around Castro. Maintenance could be better.... The entire place is gravel so dont expect you doggy to stay clean. Other than that it has a really nice community

I’ve been coming here for nearly 20 years. It is fully fenced. The surface is DG (decomposed granite), which looks like sand from a distance but is more compacted and less dusty. It allows for drainage of rain without being muddy. There is a great community of regular dogs and their people-everything from tiny 5 lb dogs to 125 lb ones, and everyone gets along just fine. There is a double canopy to offer shelter from sun and rain, water & balls for the pups, and chairs for the people. Come on by and say hello!

This is a great park to bring your dog in the Castro. Always a good group of owners there and a friendly vibe. The park is mostly dirt and gravel though so keep that in mind. It’s not nearly as big as Upper Douglass, but plenty large for a good run. There is a community center next door that should have public toilets but I haven’t confirmed this.
