Small park that is pretty barebones - a good spot for your dog to get a bit of exercise on a lunch break or in a pinch. Make sure to bring your own water as there is none nearby. Not much shade, and few chairs. We prefer going to the Loring dog park that is not too far away, but this one does just fine when we need something closer. HOWEVER - this is a fully volunteer run dog park - so people should not be too hard on it! We all need to help keep it clean and nice. The reviewer who said the park deleted their review - there isn't a business or specific person in charge of this park, and I highly doubt they are spending their time deleting reviews. Please go easy on the volunteers who made this park in the first place! Myself and others pick up dog waste while we are there, and there are annual clean ups of the park.

I love this location, it's very low key, clean, when I do see anyone here it's always been a pleasant experience! My German Shepard absolutely loves to play hear, and while it's not a very big park, it provides just enough space for him to get some nice running exercise in for the day! Hey if you liked this review then please give it a thumbs up

Nice open area to fetch or meet other pups. Most of the time there is at least 1 or 2 other dogs there for company. It is gravel with a couple of benches. Recently, the large trees were removed, so no shade. It's encouraged to help maintain the park while your pup is playing.

Clean, easy to access city dog park. Because it's directly in the city it is small but big enough to toss a ball. People and dogs were all friendly. The girls and I definitely recommend.

Cool little dog park downtown. Lots of friendly pups and owners. Great place to bring your dog to play. Most popular in the morning 7:30- 8am or so and again in the evening around 4:30-5-30pm

Nice place for DT but it is all rock so not the most welcoming for a pup. Friendly people and convenient to DT dog owners. Would be helpful for the city to fund some maintenance.

Decent little dog park downtown. Can be noisy from the road nearby depending on time of day and traffic

The park is decent, but small for the area and how many dogs were there. The owners that come expecting to train their dogs while others are around are the most annoying. Come on now... you can not yell at others dogs because you want a whole space to yourself..... its a DOG PARK!

The gateway dog park is a clean, convenient, and friendly dog park. My dog and I are here almost every day. If you live in the Elliot Park side of downtown, it is the most accessible dog park. During peak times, there can be upwards of 8+ dogs/owners! Other times you will usually find this park empty. Be sure to bring water for your dog! Due to city coding, the concrete water bowls have no central water source and are often filled with dirty rainwater. This park is a wide-open gravel park with some foliage but no shade and a few benches. Once the sun sets, this park is very dark, with little lighting other than streetlights. You will also find that most of the other owners and dogs are friendly and well trained, but not everyone! Overall it's a great little spot to bring your dog for some exercise and variety to your walk!

Nice park and nice people here. come before 7pm if you want to see other dogs or people. Theres usually some here 3-6pm In the morning it depends on the day. 7am might be busy 9-11 might be busy. but your best bet is 3:00-6:00 in the evening. i like this park because it doesn’t have wood chips like some others, so my dogs don’t spend the whole time eating them! I docked 2 stars for the “water” bowls. They are ridiculous. please remove them. They only harm our pups. Or install a way for them to get cleaned and have clean water.

This is the best dog park in downtown Minneapolis. Space is limited in the urban center and this park cleverly uses a lot that would be difficult to build on. That said, if you are walking your furry friend there, it's very close to the I-35W entrance, so it can feel death defying to get there. It's maintained by volunteers and is usually tidy. The ground is a fine gravel, which seems okay with the pups. Poop bags are provided and a garbage can is close by so you can clean up after your best friend. The big dogs can still stretch their legs at this park. There is not a separate area for small dogs, so keep your eye on your littles. Keep in mind, this park does not compare to Minnehaha or airport dog parks but for city dwelling dogs it's a blessing.

Great park for being in the middle of the cities. The ground is dirt/gravel so all toys brought will be dirty by the end but it keeps the park cleanly. Not the best park I've been to but for being in the heart of minneapolis it's a great park.

We used this dog park frequently and while it has been being maintained better lately it is not real big and like most downtown it has rocks for the entire surface. If you live downtown it works for letting your pooch burn off some steam!

Not great on a hot day! Becareful since theres NO SHADE for people or dogs and the ground is all black rocks which can damage a dogs paws. Also no restroom for humans… like anywhere in the area. Its downtown so I get it, they don’t want homeless people shooting up in those. Just a heads up to pee before you go I guess. Restrooms None. Dog-friendliness Fully dog friendly dog park.

Margaux loves this park. Clean and responsible owners.

This park is ok if you need to run your pups in a pinch. Basically a medium sized triangle fenced area with not much foliage around. No public bathrooms here for people.

Well shaded area during summer days - perfect for my black furry dog who gets very hot quickly in the sunlight. Also feels like a very safe space to be during the day (out in the open and plenty of passers by).

A small but cute dog park that doesn’t look like it is used much. It is fairly clean with plenty of seating for the humans. The ground cover is a fine crushed stone material which seemed safe for dog paws. The one concern I had was the concrete fixture on the ground that resembles a row of bowls and is perhaps meant to be used as a water drinking area for dogs? Dirty water and debris have accumulated and unless someone cleans it out those materials just sit there and create a health hazard if the dogs try and drink the water when the owners aren’t looking. Overall I’d say there is plenty of space for dogs to get a good enough run especially if you live in the apartments and this is your only fenced in option for your pets to frolic. I was there around 8pm and the neighborhood seemed safe enough to walk around at that hour.

I sit outside of this dog park when I show up to early to pick up my husband from work. It is a fenced in area that looks like a nice place for for dogs to run around. It is not huge but with limited space downtown it is a good size. I have observed people with their dogs and it looks like they may provide tennis balls for the dogs to chase. Looks like they also provide a garbage can to put the dogs waste in however, not everyone picks up after their dogs. It is mainly business vehicles, I have observed, that let their dogs run a bit, do their business, and then they just leave. I find that frustrating. I think I observed someone come in and clean things up...don't know how often that happens but I was glad to see that. Dog-friendliness Great safe place for dogs to run off leash
