Independence Dog Park

I would give more stars but I'm not because dog owners aren't picking up their dogs shit. There's piles everywhere

The potential of this park is strong. Unfortunately, most of the grass is gone in the large dog section which makes it a huge muddy mess during the winter.

Writing this review makes me sad and also a tad furious. This is what could and should be a beautiful, cute and helpful dog park. A place where some dog lovers could take their fur buddies for a stroll and some socializing with other dogs. The reality however, is that a lot of people are selfish to the core. The people (as usual) are the problem, not the dogs. I can’t understand how people who use this park for its purpose can then proceed to not do their part and clean up after their dogs so that same park they just enjoyed can continue to exist in a useable, pleasant way for themselves and others. If this keeps up people will eventually stop using it and tax dollars and/or volunteer hours will stop as well. It only takes a second to clean up after your dog. It’s your responsibility as a dog owner. I haven’t been in a while, so I’ll visit again and see if it’s any better these days. Knowing people like I do, it probably hasn’t.

Great little park. Even has some activities for your dog and plenty of space for your four legged friends to get out and run. Has a large dog and small dog side. No picnic tables so plan accordingly. Also a frisbee golf course right next to it Chem can John, but there is at least bathroom facilities there

A bit muddy this time of year. Make sure your pet has its shots before taking it to any dog park. Clean place and is setup nicely. Also has great access for a walk along the river.

Nice big area for large dogs to run and a separate area for small dogs if preferred. Its winter so there is some mud but not bad. The people I encountered were very friendly as were the dogs. Great first experience taking my dog there. The only thing that would be nice, is if the drinking fountains were turned in so water is accessible for the dogs.

It's a lovely fenced area, but I have noticed some people don't pick up after their dog. There is someone who even goes around and leaves bags tied to the perimeter fence for convenience, but alas. I usually aim to pick up a couple extra piles while walking with my dogs. Other than that, there are some fun structures to play with, working on training or just as obstacles to chase each other around. Restrooms Portapotty Dog-friendliness 4 ft chainlink fence, fully secured.

Nice place to bring my pooch to run. simple. Could use trail around perimeter for excersizing owners too. Could use a few more trees inside, but still good. Please keep making it even nicer.

Great place to come play with your fur babies. Lots of room to run. There appears to be disc golf also but I don't know how many holes. Runs parallel to the Willamette River. Lots of parking and not crowded at sll. Your furry friends will thank you for it!

Such a fun and simple dog park to visit if you need to let fido run about and stretch his legs. It does offer both large and small, fully enclosed gates. There was however no seating for the larger dog area. (The seats that were there were plastic and laying on the ground broken.)

Rode by the park on my bike so I don't have first hand knowledge or use. It looked clean and stocked with interesting stuff. I liked the fact that there were trees in the dog area.

Nice big open area for your furry family. A few obstacles for playing, benches, water, separate area for small dogs.

It was good, until a man brought in a Boxer. I have bread Boxers and there are some that are very strong welled. His Dog played to aggressive my Dog does not like that and another man's dog did not like that. He said his dog wants to play with the Dogs that do not want to Play with him. I told him then he needs to train him to leave a dog alone that does not want to play. I had to get his Dog away from mine all the time. If that dog would have been mine, I would have put a leash on him every time he forces his self at a dog who did not want to Play. I had to leave and so did the other guy. This man did not care. I feel people who do not have control of there dog should not be allowed in the dog Park.

We love the Independence dog park. We're only a couple blocks away. It's a nice walk. The park is usually pretty clean of litter and dog poop. I've never had issues with other dogs or owners there. I like that there is a separation for smaller dogs or for dogs who may not be used to other dogs. It allows for everyone to be able to use it. In the summer there are usually pools for the dogs to play in. One year there were 20 or so soccer balls someone had left for the dogs. I love the addition of benches for sitting. The path along the river is nice too. Overall it's a great place, the city keeps it nice.

Great size park, and my dog and I had it all to ourselves. The only problem is the park is FILTHY. Feces everywhere, and I couldn't even enjoy the benches near the entrance because the entire area reeked of urine. Even my dog didn't want to hang out in that space

Favorite place to bring my little guy! Two separated fenced areas (small dog area & large dog area). I lived in Salem and would still make the drive to Independence on occasion just to relax in the country setting of this park. Also, a nice wide walkway is now finished connecting Riverfront Park to the dog park itself. Great area for an evening walk or to let the puppo play!

Awesome dog park. Love the 2 separate areas for small and large dogs. Lots of fun toys at the park for them to play with. A kiddie pool, pipe tunnels, etc. Great place. We enjoyed our visit.

Indy Dog Park was great! Peaceful they roamed freely. The grounds looked clean. There were two separate yards for small dogs and big dogs. Masks required, social distance encouraged.

Nice fenced area for your dogs to play and a couple benches to sit on. There are two fennced in areas, one for big dogs and one for small dogs.
