Rinconada Dog Park

It's a fenced dog park with water and poo bags. It's a dog park. It's what you make it. All dirt, no adult trees, a sun shade and benches

Very nice place! I wish more dogs were there though, one time we went my puppy was all alone.

We love coming her to let the pup run around! The people that come are are usually very friendly. They have water fountains for the dogs to stay hydrated and bathrooms available.

The new dog park is great! I have taken my dogs everyday for the last 2 weeks and plan to continue. Our Visits have been at different times of the day and I have met so many neighbors! It needs more shade structures. It’s hot by mid day and those trees are years away from being shade trees. And it’s only mid April… All the dogs we have encountered have been well behaved! And owners are respectful and friendly! Overall I love it! And I plan to continue to bring my dogs as often as possible.

The park is great, a major upgrade from the other park in town. Two flaws: First, parking by the park is minimal, like 4 or 5 spaces. You may have to park in the Animal Services Center - but I don't know how that's going to work when the new building is fully up and running. Shockingly poor planning by a city that usually plans so well. The other thing: Second - owners playing Russian roulette with their pets lives. There are two gated areas - one for small dogs, the other for large breed dogs. Me, an owner of a large dog, entered the large breed side only to find a few owners with their small dogs on the large side completely oblivious of the danger that could put their pets in. All it takes is one big dog to set off a dog fight, and God help everyone there if your small dog is in the middle of that fight. Some pet owners make what's supposed to be a fun place for dogs and owners alike a dangerous place to be.

I don't understand how this park has such great reviews...the shelter dogs literally bark and cry as you are playing with your dog at the park. I hope the shelter dogs get to visit. There were no dogs on a Tuesday at 7:30 am, so my dog was looking at the shelter dogs like "why can't they play?". Do people really not understand that dogs have emotions?

Make it a real dog park by putting grass in there. I’ve been to many dog parks in different States and very few didn’t have grass. If I wanted my dogs to run around on dirt and rocks, they can do it in my back yard.

This is a really well designed park with lots of space, places to sit, some agility equipment, and water.

Sort of designed by cat-people. this is a great park but has some design flaws. eg only one water source for dogs on either section.

Possibly the saddest dog park I've ever been to. The shelter dogs are in outdoor cages looking down on this crushed gravel area where my dogs were the only dogs playing at 7:45 am, which traditionally is primetime dog park time but I understand why maybe nobody else was here.. because it's very sad hearing those dogs cry, wishing anybody was playing with them. Seems cruel

Great park! Love that we have something on this side of town. Is there a hill? Yes. Dirt? Yes. Is my dog the happiest when we go? ABSOLUTELY. I've met mostly sweet people with sweet dogs. My puppy is getting socialized, and it makes a huge difference in how he behaves in public and interacts with humans. He's also gotten to interact with all kinds of dogs, young / old, big / small, and a few bullies, but we've both learned a ton (first-time dog owner!), and I'm so grateful to have access to this space and community. Dog-friendliness Mostly friendly. I've one had 1 bad experience with an owner.

If your dogs like to run a lot and play hard, be WARNED. The entire park is comprised of crushed rocks - which is really rough on your dogs paws. I brought my 3 dogs to the park and 2 of them had completely cut open gashes in their paws. Be very careful at this park - it has a lot of place to run and it’s updated but not friendly towards dogs that are not just walking around.

How refreshing it is to see a dog park in Las Cruces with a separate area for my small dog! My family and I had fun tonight helping our dog get some exercise. Things to know in advance, the parking lot is quite small for the number of people that could show, there are several benches, but there is only 1 shade in the small dog area. Being that it is spring, it isn't that bad, but it will be harsh sitting or standing in the sun even in the morning. There are many trees planted, but they aren't girthy enough to make shade. All in all, it's a great place to let your dog off the leash and burn energy.

Great little dog park, but a huge hill. Hard for this old lady to clean up after my dog if I can't walk down or back up the hill.

The place is very nice. I’m glad they separated big dogs from little dogs. My doggie won’t be attacked by little dogs anymore and the water dispenser is very nice and I’m glad there’s dog bags for pick up. Dog-friendliness Very friendly dogs that my dog can play with
