Beautiful, quiet and relaxing. I take my 18mo old daughter frequently and she loves it! Most of the paths are stroller/kid friendly esp if you have a jogger w larger wheels. The playscape is a phenominal place to introduce kids to nature and she loves the bald eagle.

You’ll find nature, places for kids to run around and play, and the oldest trees in Indiana. There is a nature center with educational exhibits and hands on learning for kids. There are lookouts on the water with fish and turtles to observe. The trails are easy and shaded in lush greenery.

The Nature Playscape is a great place to take the kids for an afternoon of summertime fun. Our grandkids loved it. One thing that is seriously needed is new and better signage with directions to the Playscape. We encountered several lost families in the woods trying to find it after missing a sign. Good times. 2 Share Response from the owner 5 years ago Sounds like fun!

$5 admission fee is ridiculous. Very mediocre trails and poorly maintained with a lot of overgrown trees and bushes. I’m from Chicago suburbs and we have plenty of free forest preserves that are far superior to this. Heck even camelback mountain in phoenix is free! Not worth the money!

I love this park. I have never felt unsafe here. The roadways are plenty wide so you can walk comfortably. LOTS of parking inside the park. Excellent wooded areas and picnic tables. Baseball fields, 3 par golf, beautiful hiking trails and of course the Nature Center and Preserve. Lots of folks walking for daily exercise, lots of dog walkers. Very popular park. Busy place in the summer time! Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No

We went to check out the new nature playscape. My kids had a blast! I've enjoyed hiking their trails and bird watching since I was little. But the new play area make it ok for my kids to run a little wild, build forts, and get dirty. They got to see and follow lizards and bugs, dig holes, splash in water, climb on rocks, and generally explore nature. It was completely worth the entrance fee of $5 per adult and $3 per kid to go! 2 Share Response from the owner 5 years ago :) Come back soon!

This natural area which includes an old growth yet urban forest with an incredible learning center is one of Evansville, Indiana's most important public spaces. Kids absolutely love visiting here without even realizing they are learning and being connected to nature. Adults love it as well. You can hike their trails even on a hot day and find it several degrees cooler than the rest of the city. The staff here are great and ready to assist you with information or a simple welcome.

The nature center has turtles, bald eagles and snakes, plus interesting information about the area and animals. Trails are flat, some have a boardwalk but others are unpaved. Beware of mosquitoes after rain events. Just outside the Woods, there is a path you can take to the State Hospital Park, and there are playgrounds and tennis courts in the adjacent park as well. Parking is plentiful.

Shelter 3 or 4 had a graduation party yesterday while my husband and I were there eating Fazoli lasagna. The graduation party folks mentioned a domestic rat someone lost. Today, we came back with a double handful unsalted cashews and got a few pictures. Wish I knew how to help aside from reporting to the park / Humane Society. If you’ve lost this pet rat in the area, he or she is understandably shy, but still way cute (and seems to like listening to Luca Stricagnoli play acoustic on YT). I hope you get reunited with your little friend! Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait

Excellent Park for Outdoor Dog Events! We were there this weekend for a Fast Cat event with the Evansville Agility Club. Coming all the way from Cape Girardeau, Missouri we found the park very easily. The dog run was in the perfect location -- very flat and nice mowing job done on it and the path to walk to the fenced area. (The Bathrooms however... needed some attention. A little blue bowl cleaner and a bowl scrub brush and an attendant for all the trash would have been an easy fix) Other than that, it was a nice facility.

I'm visiting from Florida and I loved it. Really cute and had a very informative education center in the beginning, great trail markers, and overall just such a charming experience! 100% would go again. Maybe bring a frisbee if you have kids, there is a nice field area that would be perfect for that and a picnic. Really just a gem! So lucky to have stumbled upon it. $5 entry for adults. Went to a free event sunday. We made seed bombs! It was a fun time! We also got acorns to plant and sat in the sun in the nature center wooded entrance. And, we got to do a little bird watching. Had a nice time and the staff is super friendly! Oh, and all the little spring flowers are in bloom. 3 Share Response from the owner 5 years ago We are so happy to hear that, Melissa! Come back soon!

The nature center and nature preserve are beautiful. Admission is reasonable and the staff are friendly. The grounds are maintained as natural woods and they’re quiet and lush with growth. The walking trails are clearly marked and kept clean and walkable. Restrooms Restrooms available in the center.
